March forward this month, there’s no need to rush. You've got two feet and a heartbeat so its time to move forward. I know we are all too critical of our own creations. It can be daunting. It’s a journey to the top of this mountain. Try and enjoy the scenery along the way…

PORTRAIT TEST RUN:
Every week we release new opportunities. This past week we launched a test run for our NEW portrait night. We had a full group of painters and drawers, The first one went off. I hope to get a few more painters next one. It seems to be a hit so far and we will continue to improve it through the month of March.
UPCOMING COURSES:
Being that I’m just one guy it takes a bit longer to get things going so I’ve been attempting to add one new thing per week. So far it’s working but also why it’s good thing for you to keep reading these newsletters. keep in the loop as something that perks your interest may slip through the cracks if you are unaware. New classes are coming up in March as well and workshops too.
Painting courses are ongoing. We keep them in 6 week cycles to keep the price and commitment down, some are tarting up again and we have listed the next round of RISE & Draw and Friday figure if you want to register your spot.
STUDENT SHOW:
Years ago we hosted a student show with over 80 art works. It was hell to hang! I think its time for another.
A while back I started testing the waters of interest among you to see if there is interest again. At first I kicked around the idea at the end of our next semester in June but a lot of you wont be around and cSPACE starts to get quiet. I am now looking into aligning with Alberta Culture days before the Atelier reopens in the fall which should give people more time to prepare their pieces over the summer months.

I’m still finessing the details and booking gallery space for the fall to host a student show so I want to plan the seed that you can show something after summer that is made by you outside of the scope of the practices and lessons we have at the atelier. Once I put the deposit down on the space I will share the protocol and size requirements with you but I hope this plants the seed for you to be inspired to make something new to show.

SKETCHBOOKING 101:
I'm not sure if any of you are keeping a sketchbook or have interest but I draw in mine everyday and have kept them going since art school in the 90's. For me its a place to explore and play creatively. I'm feeling out if there is interest in a course or session and if its worth arranging a club lie setting maybe fFriday afternoons for either an open studio or sketchbook club.
For the "sketching club" I was thinking in the warmer months we could get zoo passes and meet there and draw animals and plants. Here is the thing, theres only one of me and only so many days of the week so I need to know from you if this is something that you'd be interested in so let me know by email and I'll start putting it together.
YOUTUBE REBOOT:
I have no real excuse After after my trip to Europe My YouTube channel slipped into dormancy. Too much footage to edit became daunting, I held off creating new content until I eventually posted Iceland this fall but I dive bombed overall at 88% on my way to trying to make 100 episodes. I picked it up again but if you have t seen it it has videos on charcoal, erasers, art travels abroad and even Lego …..
I went on a little video rant recently. I wanted to reboot my personal channel by looking back on 8 years celebration and The development of teaching style and techniques have been a lifetime and are always ongoing by trying to describe where I am today. I’d love you to check it out it that interest you, just give it a like to help me with the algorithm and I’ll keep improving and continue to making free content.
BIRTHDAYS!!!
I've got this Birthday book by the sign in sheets and so far I only have two of you listed for March so HAPPY BIRTHDAY on March 1st to both Keith Springall one of our longest supporters and and one of our models who we started with this year before she ventured off to San Diego recently - Tabitha Worby.
